Things are well and truly rolling again, and it looks like many others are in the same boat. We have several new partner offers starting with the announcement of the new WinWeb offer. More of these will follow over the next month.

We've also have started beta testing of the new Online Timesheet system which is also utilising a custom member portal so you can now deliver online tools to clients from your own 'Web-Accountant' portal. This is really quite a big step forward in the value our business members receive.

International Volunteer Program

AfID

We recently came across Accounting for International Development (AfID), a new social enterprise placing experienced accounting professionals on short voluntary assignments with NGOs (non-governmental organisations) across Africa and Asia.

This is not only provides a platform for accountants to give practical support to some very worthwhile causes but is also a great opportunity to develop new skills working overseas with different communities and cultures.

AfID provides charities with a completely free and impartial coaching and mentoring programme, designed specifically to strengthen the financial management and planning capabilities of their overseas partners, such as street child centres, health clinics, enterprise initiatives and rural cooperatives. These organisations do amazing work to tackle extreme poverty and inequality in their communities but have little or no access to these vital skills and services.

Assignments typically last from 2 to 12 weeks but form part of a long term strategy to build financial management and planning capacity within these small grass root projects.

One AfID partner, All Ears Cambodia (AEC), is helping the young and disabled across Cambodia to hear. Putting an end to many children dying needlessly from chronic ear infections.

Prior to the arrival of an AfiD volunteer the responsibility for the financial management of AEC rested with Director and Chief Audiologist Glyn Vaughan who had no prior accountancy training and had little or no access to vital accounting skills or services.

Steven Wadley ACA took up a 6 week volunteer placement with AEC through AfID to help to strengthen the finical management and planning capabilities within AEC.

Steven prepared the charity’s financial statements, trained clinical staff in basic accounting concepts and prepared accounting guidance to ensure the charity continued to prepare future financial statements, funding proposals and forecasts on a consistent basis.

Steven helped create and review comprehensive, workable and easy to understand financial plans and budgets; providing guidance on monitoring and variance analysis for the team at AEC.

Online Timesheet Management

We have now commenced the beta testing of the new Online Timesheet Management System, an online equivalent of the Excel Template.

A new and separate online 'Web-Accountant' portal has been created as a branded delivery platform using own names, logo and corporate colours. Full management of the portal and the Online Timesheet Management System is done easily online.

Users will find this an extremely practical tool, with multi-users, dashboard and report graphs, stopwatch click for start/stop entries and full data output to Excel.

Early Bird Saving!

The full Timesheet Management System (online and Excel) will be £249 for the first year, which also includes the first 50 users but until the end of June 2010 we will keep this at only £99 for the first year!

Future years as well as for each additional 50 users is just £149 for a full year!

Business members and purchasers of the template will receive an email at the start of June explaining how to get started with Online Timesheets.
